Question:

Headache after staring at LCD monitor?

I experience headache, if not dizziness, after staring at the LCD monitor even for like, 30 minutes. When i used the computer at the school library which is the CRT monitor, i don't even experience that condition, in fact, i feel file even after staring at it for 2 hours. And what surprised me, is that the CRT monitor doesn't even have the protector in front of it yet i did not experience any headache after staring at it.i adjusted the LCD monitor brightness lower, which only prolongs the time a little bit before i get dizzy.

Answer:

My daughter was given a special pair of eye glasses to wear just when she was on the computer. Go to see your eye doctor and talk to her/him about it.
What you might look at is the sort of light in the room, and the screen refresh rate. At times, the refresh rate can cause headaches because of barely noticable flickering as a result of a sort of beat frequency with other lighting in the room. Right click on your desktop (if it's a PC). Select properties, Settings, Advanced, Monitor, and set your refresh rate. Generally, higher is better, but you don't want anything that might interact with 60 Hz. --Dee
Shake hands. Light is EMF radiation. The smaller the monitor, the fewer fluresent tubes it's likely to contain. As for LED's after all, they're also fluresent and they're also light, so I'm skeptical of the hype that they'll pose less of a health problem. My experience was and still is, a nightmare worse than yours, which was why I created the below website years ago. It debunks the respective claims of superiority of LCD vs. CRT and CRT vs. LCD, and it debunks other claims as well. It includes an ongoing survey, grassroots links more, just so you see the myriad of experiences people endure from their various computers.
