sounds to me like you're going to have to water it slowly,so as to avoid excessive runoff, eroding the set-up. Maybe try laying it back down until you can soak it more thoroughly, thus getting the soil to expand and stay in place. once you have the soil more evenly moist, check it daily, especially the bottom, and water daily if needed.
