Question:

Where do people get those wooden pallets used in lots of DIY projects?

I see DIY projects using wooden pallets (making a couch, planter, shelf, etc.) all the time. Some of them look like really cool projects, too! Maybe this is a stupid question, but where do the pallets come from? I know you can buy them from various quot;pallet yards, quot; but a lot of them are used so what were they used for?

Answer:

Definitely Portland, Oregon. You didn't mention where you're moving from, but Portland has a great public education system. The job market isn't outstanding, but there are opportunities at Nike, Intel, and many other companies. The stereotype that it rains constantly just isn't true. I saw a report of the wettest cities and it's not even in the top 20. Also, the cost of living in lower than most states, and certainly Nevada. There is no sales tax either. However, property taxes are a bit steep. There is decent public transportation, but it is more of a car state. Traffic is not a major problem, but it's getting worse. The air is still clean and there are lots of trees. I'm from Portland and it looks like most of your other respondents are from Portland as well. I've never been to Reno; only Las Vegas many times, so I'm not qualified to speak about Reno. I tried to give a fair assessment of Portland for you, however. Hopefully, someone will answer your question who is from Reno. Good luck.
