Question:

How can I construct a 3-way switch for a science project?

In my science project for high school, I am using a 6V battery with series, parallel and combination circuits to power Christmas lights in a model houseI can make a simple switch with aluminum foil on a thread spool but I need to also make two 3-way switches to turn lights on and off from either switchI also need to make a fuse (aluminum foil strips? steel wool strands?) and a pressure-activated switch activated by opening the model house closet doorAll ideas and URLs appreciated.

Answer:

A 3-way switch is actually a combination of two single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switches, arrange like so: _ / ?????? _O_ ?????_????????? When either switch is thrown, it toggles the power onto either the upper or lower wireYou can make a SPDT switch by joining the poles of two single-pole single-throw (SPST) switches, and physically joining them so that one turns off as the other turns onYou could do this with 2 strips of foil on the same spoolI would use the steel wool as a fuseEven with multiple paths for the electricity, a 9V battery shorted across a piece of it will cause it to burnYou should be able to twist multiple threads into a fuse of the desired capacityTo make a pressure switch will require a springI would find one (not too stiff) that fits inside a thread spoolRemember, you can cut a spring if it's too longOn one end of the spool, attach two strips of aluminum foilThen cut out a circle of cardboard and glue aluminum foil to one sideUse a toothpick or coffee stir to make a plunger with it (long enough to go through the spool)The spring will need to push against something inside the spool (but not that it restricts the plunger from going through)Maybe glue a small washer, or some small pieces of wood on either side of the center of the spool on the foiled endPut the plunger in, and insert the spring through the other endThen you just need to put a brace on the end of the plunger so that the spring pushes the switch closed, but when you push on the end of the plunger, it opensAlternatively, you could use the deformation of a hoop of cardboard or a roll of paperYou place two posts inside the hoop, glued to the edge, and just touching in the middleYou cover these with foilWhen you squeeze the hoop, it distorts into an oval, and the posts separate.
A balanced diet is best - protein and raw (or steamed) fruits and vegetablesSteer clear of pastas, processed foods and grains.
What you need is food that's low-cost but in addition nutritious - for those who simply continue to exist bread and sugar, you'll be able to get sick very speedilyMeals that does not cost so much but can also be nutritious incorporate bananas, tuna, potatoes (you do not say how you can be cooking your food - if you have a microwave oven that you would be able to make baked potatoes), brown rice, lentils, oatmeal, carrots, hen.
I have been in the same position you haveHere are some cheap foods high on protien and low budgetChiken Tuna Chili;) ham or turkey (like those ones you put in your sandwiches) cottage cheese ALSO try eating some veggies you can go to a walmart or cosco or whatever and buy a bag of veggiesthey usually contain carrots, brocoli, and coli flower just pop a serving or 3 in the microwave for like to mins and pop ther you go :)
Pasta with a quick tomato sauceMake tomato sauce out of a chopped and fried onion (use olive oil if possible, just to make it healthier), add a tin of tomatos and simmer until the water from the tin had reducedAdd a teaspoon of tomato puree for flavourYou can add other ingredients such as pepper and mushrooms, but obviously this adds a little on the cost.
