Question:

How can polished aluminum stay shinny?

Metal polishing compound is easily available at auto stores...and it works well. I tried it on stainless steel. The result is amazing.... I am thinking of using it on aluminum. I am sure I will get a shinny result just like on S.S. (I've seen people polish the bottom part of a soda can)... however... my question or concern is how can polished aluminum stay shinny? It would be oxidized easily and becomes dull in a few days (would it?) Any ways to prevent it? Like putting on a special clear coat??

Answer:

Try Kit. Apply a dab and clean with a microfiber towel.
If you use a good finish like mirror glaze on aluminum it will keep its shiny finish for a long long time.
WD-40. No joke I#x27;ve put this stuff on my paint and polished it and I#x27;ve put it on my rims. Where I live it gets dusty but it holds that shine and brake dust away for some time. So should be perfect on it. Wouldn#x27;t hurt
Aluminium reacts with oxygen in air . Thus polishing will shine but start to cloud almost immediately though each microscopic layer of corrosion slows further oxidation. Hence slow cloud like look etc. Lacquer coat only way to stop or slow this effect.
