Question:

How do Iower Water Pressure on my boiler?

I think it's a combi boiler. There are 2 red taps on the laft hand side underneath it and on the right there is a black tap that says 'stopcock'. Below them there is a horizontal pipe with a screwdriver shaped hole in the middle. How do I reduce the pressure if anyone knows?

Answer:

On mine there is a small knob with a slot to allow a screwdriver to reduce the pressure. turn clockwise.
On boilers there is a water feed line that adds water as it loses it due to heat and evaporation. In the feed line (usually 1/2 copper) there is a pressure reducing valve , becuase the water in your house is 40 to 60 psi and your boiler is at 10-12 psi. There is a screw on the pressure reducing valve to reduce inlet pressure. If you want to reduce the pressure becuase the relief valve is poping off and let out water, it is usually becuase your expansion tank is bad. That is underneath your air scoop and usually is about 12 in diameter and has an air valve stem on the bottom. They have a bladder in them that lets the water expand when heated. If the bladder gets a hole in it the water can't expand and the pressure relief will blow off every time the boiler runs. You can try reducing the pressure, but if it keeps blowing off it's becuase of the expansion tank. They cost about $75 Good Luck
