Just use old rags to wipe off the old grease. Then reinstall the bearing buddy and put the new grease in by pumping it into the bearing buddy. Don't disassemble the hub bearings unless they have failed and you are going to replace them. If that's the case, prepack them before installing. Check instructions from your parts supplier......I learned to do it by hand from a mechanic 45 years ago. Good Luck!
Easy-simply stick the buddy back and pump it full Hard-spin your tire with it in the air, if it sounds rough ( may be if you ran it on the road dry ) this i what you need to do to.. with that wheel jacked up take the cotter pin/hub nut off. Pull on the hub til the hub, inner/outer bearings, seal come off the spindle. Take the old bearings to a trailer parts place and get new bearings ( 10$ ). Get some bearing grease from walmart and with a latex glove on work the grease into the bearings reassemble the hub in reverse order and you ought to be god to go. Its fairly easy; I have done it on the side of the highway in 5 minutes. If you ran the trailer and the bearings ran dry youd want to replace them or you can end up on the side of the highway lookin for where your wheel went. As for cleaning the rim, good ol soap and water works fine.
