Answer:

Both will stick and be hard to peel offUse parchment paper for stick-free lining and baking.
wax paper works bestUse a cooking spray (like pam) on the wax paper which will help it come out good Also, if you are trying to take it off strait out of the oven it will be more difficulttry waiting 5 mins or so before trying to take it off.
You should use parchment paper or waxed paperAluminum tears too easily and is definitely less pleasant to get an accidental bite ofYou should grease the pan before you line it, and then grease the paper againThat should take care of it.
No worries about putting wax paper in the bottom of a cake pan, it's covered completely by the cake and has no chance of burning: lack of oxygen to the paper will see to thatWhat I've done in the past is put the pan on the wax paper and trace a circle with pencilI then cut a little bit inside the circleYou only want to line the very bottom of the pan, not the sidesIt's a great way to keep that side of the cake intact and perfect for stacking.
You can do it on the same kind of spinning wheel you would do wool on, but I'm not sure if it will work with a drop spindle or notIt's a LOT more difficult to spin than wool though, because the fibers are shorter and smoother, so it tends to break a lotDefinitely you want a little experience spinning something easier before you even try to do cottonI think (but am very unsure) that you card it the same as you would wool too, so you can look up some resources on wool spinning to get an idea of what to do thereSee if there's any spinning classes in your areaThere's a few in my area that cover cotton to some extent.
