Question:

How long do the walls in a ripped out boiler cupboard take to dry out?

I have a boiler cupboard in my room and have had the boiler, pipes, everything removed from the cupboard over 2 weeks ago. I have tried to paint the walls and ceiling in the cupboard today, and the walls just aren't taking to the paint...it peels straight off in places. Walls do not feel or look damp.

Answer:

Not sure what a boiler cupboard is. I never heard of one. But, if paint won't stick, try washing the walls down with an ammonia solution. Then use a good primer before you put any latex paint on it. If the walls are really stupborn, an alcohol based primer (I use Zinzer bulls eye) will cover virtually anything and give you a great surface for covering with paint.
