Question:

How much would it cost to buy/create a nuclear bunker?

I'm a little paranoid, and I'm just wondering. I would like something to protect me from a direct hit from a nuclear warhead. Also, laws and ordinances around bunkers and where you can build them would be helpful.

Answer:

Just find a deep basement. Most of the older buildings may still have the CD symbol on them (for Civil Defense shelters). There's a company in Texas that makes a weather shelter for about $5 - $6,000.
At what end? You're going to live in that bunker til you die. Coming out of the bunker after a Nuclear attack would mean a slow death. No Thanks I would rather take the immediate total body tan...clear to the bone. There will be no after Holocaust, as hollyweird would have you to believe. But hey you could build one, just lead line it...get permission for the feds as that much heavy metal would have environmental laws against it. Figure out how to recycle your urine and waste products from say 20 years or so, build it large enough to have 20 years of food stores. Don't forget to have 20 years of Medicines on hand also...and the list goes on and on....get the picture? Take the tan...say Hi to God, and call it a good run!
It depends on how paranoid you are. If you think the North Koreans are out to get YOU specifically it's very hard and beyond the capabilities of normal people. Especially sane normal people. You can't build a Cheyenne Mountain in your back yard. I've seen people who were paranoid enough and rich enough to build a fallout shelter. Build a sturdy house and put a thick reinforced concrete slab under it. If you live in a northern climate don't forget a gigantic heating oil tank, along with provisions and water and an air filter. Airtight doors are nice too, as is a strategic position on top of a hill with lots of surrounding agricultural land. Don't forget weapons and a SM chamber attached to it so you can stay entertained (the people who built the one I worked at were fcuking insane in the membrane). Expect $100k for a good setup plus the rest of the house. Psychotherapy is probably cheaper. EDIT: North Korea has nothing to gain by nuking you specifically. Really they have nothing to gain by nuking anybody; it's a poker game. Go back to whatever meaningless distractions get you through the day.
With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina. According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.
www.theregister .uk/2006/05/08/... There was a nuke silo for sale a while ago, apparently ran for around 900,000. But it can withstand a nuclear weapon attack!
