Question:

How to clean old wooden chairs.?

Just purchased 10 ladder back country chairs from a not so clean house. The chairs have a straw design I guess for the seat? The design comes in on all four sides. The straw looks like rope to me just very old and dirty. The chairs are old but could be beautiful again. They are in excellent condition from what I can see, just dirty and smoked up. Can someone that knows about old furniture please help me. I do not want to mess these chairs up by doing something I shouldn't. I planned on putting murphy's oil soap in very warm water and give them a good cleaning. What would you perfer I use. I've been looking for these chairs for along time. It was hard trying to find 10 chairs all the same size and color. Thanks

Answer:

Yes, Murphy's Oil Soap, but don't get it on the straw. Just vacuum that.
Wooden chairs have got to be one of the most common types of furniture available today. No matter where you go and where you live, chances are you will find a wooden chair fairly close by. Since they are so popular, it might just be beneficial to know how you can get clean wooden chairs. Here's how. Lemon juice and sunflower oil Murphy Oil Soap.
Try Murphys Oil Soap. That is what I use on my Kitchen Cabinets. Also Lowes sells a special chemical just for wooden Kitchen Cabinets.
Definitely Murphy's Oil Soap, why kick a winner?
