Question:

How would/does aluminum foil help heal a burn or alleviate the pain of one?

I was looking up home remedies for treating a first or second degree burn and came across this oneI'm very curious as to how it works to help treat a burn.

Answer:

It prevents oxygen getting to the wound and stops it drying out - cling film does the same trick and is recommended as a good first aid treatment after cooling the burn of courseOh - nearly forgot, it's a good barrier to infection too and possibly the aluminium has antibacterial properties, but I'm guessing on that onenice to see you (((Nookie)))
Genuine Reynold's Wrap is about 98.5% aluminum, the rest being almost entirely iron and silicon Howeverdum dum DAAAAAAHthe actual formula is a closely guarded Reynold's brand secret.
Not that I know ofIt's just molten aluminum rolled into sheetsThe rollers use lubricants that are often kerosene based, but i think aluminum is the only thing in the actual foil.
