Question:

How would you deal with a neighbors car alarm?

For the past several months, our neighbor‘s car alarm will go off one to two times a night, for no apparent reason. (It used to go off because it was too sensitive, so every motorcycle that would go by would set it off.) The neighbor apparently doesn‘t do a thing to shut if off as soon as possible because it‘ll BEEP for like 1-2 minutes straight. Mind you, this happens more than once a night.I don‘t want to go to him in a pissed off manner, so how would you address him?

Answer:

Sorry but I disagree with everyone who's posted so far. I have a car with an alarm. My apartment is the furthest one from the parking lot, so I can't hear it, therefore I can't stop it if it goes off. My car is armed because it has been broken into and vandalized a number of times and without the alarm, my insurance could/would go up. My apartment faces the street and I will be parking on the street come summer, but my vehicle (along with everyone else's) needs to be plugged in during winter. Because my apartment faces the street and people tend to make noise at all hours, I sleep with a fan on. I do this all year round. The quiet noise the fan makes drowns out the noise on the street.
I would talk to him - nicely the first time. Mr. so and so, your car alarm has been waking me up. It seems to be very sensitive, could you adjust it so that it doesn't go off If he doesn't do anything about it - then the gloves are off. 1- Leave a very large note on his car window - Stop the NOISE - NOW If he still does nothing . . 2 - Call the police, and provide them with the licence no. and his address, name. Inform them that you have spoken with this guy and left a note - he is destroying your sleep and affecting your job and personal life - it is that bad. If it still persists, use some of the other anwsers on this site. Isn't it curious that he doesn't check up on his car when the alarm goes off? Nobody else will. PS Was that a Grand Prix or Grand P__ck
To score something means you are going to join two pieces of wet clay together, the score is when you gently scrape both sides to be joined together with a pin tool or fork making small ridges, you then put slip on both sides and put them together and smooth it out so that you can't tell that they were ever two pieces.
I used to have a car with a very very sensitive car alarm. It would go off anytime a loud car drove by. It was very annoying! I solved the problem by de-activating the alarm. However, the couple of times it happened at night, I immediately addressed the situation. How very rude of your neighbor to not take care of it or seem to care that his neighbors are being disrupted. My question to you would be the times it goes off. is it during the day or the evening or is this after bedtime? If it is after bedtime, this is a noise violation and you have every right to contact the police department. However, if it is an annoyance during the day or the evening hours, I think you should start with a polite note left on his windshield (make sure he isn't looking when you do it, do it at night or something) and just put from your neighbors. If that doesn't do the trick, I think that the next time it happens during the day or evening, you should address the situation WHILE it's happening. Just go up to the door and knock and say your car alarm is going off, I'm not sure if you can hear it or not but it's very loud and we were hoping you could shut it off.
