I just bought a new laptop. I have another computer at home and internet access. I have Webroot anti-virus software. I was just using my computer on one of those wireless networks you find by clicking in the lower-right corner of the screen and all of a sudden a popup came up saying my computer was infected with malware, worms, and trojans, etc. The popup wouldn't go away until I pressed ctrl alt delete. Now everything seems to be fine again, although I'm running a virus scan just in case. So far it has found nothing.My question is, did this most likely occur because I was just signed on to a wireless network? Are those less secure? I am planning on buying a wireless router this weekend. Is this more likely to protect my computer from these popups?Thanks so much.
