Question:

is it good to have openings on your longboard bearings?

im thinking about buying bearings for my longboard. but idk there are open on one side are thay good .can some one help

Answer:

Get a pair of good simple cheap bearings. I recommend MileHighSkate, Magic, of DBS. They are double rubber sealed to protect dirt from entering and cheap at $9. As long as you clean and lube any bearing, they will spin as good as any expensive one, so do not waste your money on expensive bearings.
If the bearings have shields on one side, put the shielded side facing outward. The friction between the wheel and the bearing will keep the majority of the dirt out. You will still need to properly maintain your bearings and keep them out of water. Shields don't keep out water. Swiss bearings are the best. My longboards have Pig Swiss in them.
Providing you keep the shielding on the one side facing outwards. They should be fine like any other bearings, easy clean and lubing. However you'll have to service them more often. Buddy of mine has a similar case with the bones reds and they work superbly like any bearing out there. Either way your longboarding experience is not going to be affected by it in anyway.
That will bring dirt in and it will ruin the bearings quicker. The plus side is you can clean and oil them easier.
definite; although, the ABEC score gadget has extra to do with the bearing's tolerance than the bearings velocity. save that for the period of innovations. the ABEC rated bearings are used for extra suitable than only skating; those bearings have been examined on a gadget.
