Question:

Is it true that darkness hates light?

because the light dispels the darkness

Answer:

You are anthropomorphising the presence or lack there of visible light photons. They aren't sentient. They don't like or hate things. What science class is teaching you your physics?
You are giving human characteristics to what is just an absence of light. How stupid is that? About as stupid as personifying nature as a big man with a beard, that's how.
Darkness has never confided in me. however given that darkness can snuff out the light as well as the light overpowering the darkness, it seems to me there is parity there.
Are we talking about an emotion or about an action? Bible readers and just people in general tend to think of hate only in terms of it being an emotion. However, that is quite frequently not the way the word is used in the Bible. In line with the common Biblical use of the word 'hate' I can correctly say that water poured into a bottle hated the emptiness in that bottle. God loved Jacob but he hated Esau, not with an emotional hatred but by taking away something from Esau and giving it to Jacob. We might refer to that as a destructive action by shear natural consequence. People that go beyond the simplistic use of the word 'hate' in the Bible turn the Bible into an excuse for bigotry and vile attitudes towards others, imagining they have justification for doing so. Similarly, the word 'love' frequently does not mean an emotional judgment but a constructive action. This is a good subject to become familiar with but it is also too deep for some to grasp given the way this life has shaped their perceptions.
The nature of spiritual Darkness (Ahriman) is hate. It hates the Light and it hates itself. Hate in all of its forms, including self-hatred come from the Darkness and they belong to it. Darkness can never overcome Light. If the largest room on earth was plunged into darkness but a candle remained it would distinguish itself from the dark. The key is to increase Light within yourself and that flame will burn in a world infatuated with darkness.
