Question:

is there a way to get your car lifted a couple of inches but still get an air bag suspension?

i just got a 89 cadillac deville and i want to get some 22"s for it so i would have to get the car lifted a couple inches. would there be a way to have the car lifted but still get an air bag suspension? also what kind of bags would you reccomend? i would want them to be able to make the wheels bounce (i know hydraulics would be better for that but i dont want hydros. oh yea i wouls also want the bags to have a fast response when i hit the switches cause ive seen some bags that take a long time to fill up and let out the air i dont want that i want it to be quick and bounce.

Answer:

I don't know much about the air bag suspension systems but just to get the car up higher you can install larger suspension springs.
The best way to do this is by adding a body lift. This actually lifts the body of the car off the frame a couple of inches and leaves the suspension in the same place. Most of the time when you see a Hi-riser sitting tall and then hitting the bags and raising it up, it has a combination of a body lift and then an airbag suspension. For the fast travel that you're talking about, you'll need to use nitrogen instead of compressed air. Compressed air usually operates off a compressor and a tank. When you release that pressure from the tank into the bags, the compressor kicks on and you have to wait before the pressure builds back up to get quick actuation. When you use a nitrogen tank the pressure is more consistent and faster because of the nature of the gas. To get a better idea, try checking out a mini-truck show when one comes around you area.
First, under no circomstances will airbags make your wheels bounce, You need hydrolics to do that. And that will destroy any rims you put on the car. Airbags can fill up fairly quickly, and they can be used to raise the car, but you won't get that ghetto bounce you are talkign about. Instead of putting mopney into an old '89 Cady, save the money and get a real car to moddify.
