Not a very good idea to be using your gas stove to heat your home. Carbon monodioxide is just one killer. I would recommend going to home depot or wal mart and purchase a electric heater. They cost about $30.00-40.00 dollars and are a lot safer. (of course you must read the dangers in all heating items) I use the double ceramic type and heats up the large room just fine.
Keep the house key in your bra. Seriously. Leave the other keys at home, only bring the bare essentials (car key, house key Though if you're drinking, you shouldn't need your car keys) and keep 'em in your bra. Might not sound comfortable or safe/secure, but if your bra fits well, there should be no worries about the key slipping out. Or digging into you, as your boobs shouldn't be pushed together in a well-fitting bra. Either that or put the key on a belt loop that's near your body and unseen by others. Though I'd go with the bra option first. Edit: For the record, NEVER keep a key to your house hidden on your property. It is quite possibly the dumbest thing to doYou're basically giving a thief a key.
