Question:

Laminate floor swelling, what should i do?

The laminate floor in the apartment im renting is starting to swell. Theres a few areas in the floor where its swelling up, its pretty noticible. Im afraid that if I tell my landlord about it, he'll make me pay to replace the floor.. It's very humid up here, the floor gets sticky alot of the time. Can that be the cause of the swelling? How do I fix it and prevent it from getting worse? Should I tell my landlord? Will I have to pay for it?Im alittle worried because I know it can be costly replacing or fixing the floor, what should I do?

Answer:

see in case you place a rag on it and stepping on it you get it picked up needs all moist under there the fan is sweet shop it you'll be able to desire to ensure if that helps to .that way u push it out from under the flooring, then wipe it up if it does pop out desire that helps u greater
You absolutely need to tell your landlord. Today! Most leases call for immediate notification of problems or damage. Not doing so would more likely cause your landlord to have a legitimate claim against you. The cause for the swelling is moisture. The source of the moisture is impossible to determine without being there. Humidity could have caused it, but it's not likely. More likely would be a leak somewhere that is traveling under the floor. Good luck.
This may not be entirely your fault as the floor may not have been installed properly in the first place or it maybe that there is a leak allowing moisture under the floor causing it to swell,if it is a leak then it will have to be repaired and the floor may or may not have to be replaced even spilling water on the floor might allow for it to squeeze through the floor and cause problems if I was you I'd tell the landlord now as it may be repairable now but if you leave it to long it will go beyond that stage and then you'll be rightly in the s***.The link below shows some of the problems associated with these floors.
