Question:

LED light color temperature for plants?

I wanted to buy a light for some plants and I was wondering if a light that has about a 4000K color temp would be good enough, also if it would be better to have two, or just one. thanks:D

Answer:

4K lights have an output close to flourescents or mercury lights 5K lights - often called full spectrum would be a closer match to daylight 6K (6500K) lights would be even better. The very best, however, would be 7200K grow Lights www.greenshorticulture .uk/Grow... You need a light which supplies red and blue light - the best colours for plant growth John H
Thats is a marketing ploy. That way they can get the reefers and planted tank money. Ian is right... 6,500 - 6,700 is best. 10,000 is the highest you can go, 5,000k is the lowest. You can mix and match bulbs to whatever colour light pleases you. Other than that I would like to add that petsmart has a T5NO fixture under aqueon. Not HO.. but still better than T12's and T8's.
