Question:

Maintaining the suspension?

Dear all,Whilst I send my car for its periodic servicing (every 5K KM), it occured to me today that the suspension system are not being paid attention to.What could be done to the suspension system? When one mentioned tightening, what is it that‘s being tightened? I just want a decent ride and nothing sporty to the handling. Thanks all.

Answer:

Just pump grease into the grease zerks (if your car has them!). That should take care of the suspension.
The modern suspension does NOT require any maintenance. Most of the joints are sealed so no grease is required. But you should check them from time to time (broken rubber boots, loose ball joints, etc.). Also DON'T hop into a stone cold suspension and drive off like Steve McQueen - hitting bumps and hot cornering. They also need little bit of warming up also (yes suspension need warming up - according to Bob Bondurant). Good Luck.
