Question:

mitsubishi diamante transmission, not shifting corectly?

2001 diamante automatic OD transmission, wen put in drive the indicator lite stays on nuetral and flashes and the transmission isnt in drive its in 2nd or 3rd and thats the only gear it is running in. need help!

Answer:

The flashing light is warning you that a transmission problem has occurred and that a code is stored that needs to be read by a Mutt II or Mutt III scanner at your Mitsubishi dealer. Don't expect a free scan at an Auto Zone will do the trick on this one. The transmission is running in the fail safe mode. You may have an input or output sensor problem or something as weird as a mouse chewing up your wiring harness on top of the transmission. I'd look for seed or nut shells on top of the transmission if you brought the car in to me. I've seen those rodents cause problems more than once! Diamante's are great cars and my sister loves her 2003. They really don't have transmission issues so check out the rodent thing. If nothing is visible go to the dealer. Hope this helped.
