Question:

My 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix (GTP) has a "Very Firm" Ride. ?

Ive been told by the person i purchesed it from it has a special performance suspension. Can anyone explain how this suspension system varies from a standard suspension what I could do to soften up the ride ?

Answer:

Stock suspension will tend to bounce over undulations in the road way and get kind of floaty. over dips. If your suspension is stiff be happy. GM performance struts are expensive and control the weight better. Trust me get used to it. There are other inferior suspension shocks and springs. I hope your car has either Koni struts or Gm performance system installed.
It has extra heavy duty struts and sway bars for good handling, you should have bought a plain Jane Grand Prix if you wanted a good ride.
A performance suspension is a stiffer ride to negate body roll in sharp turns. the only way I know of softening it up is to replace the performance parts with stock ones.
