Question:

My automatic garage door is not working properly. What is the problem?

My automatic garage door opener is not working properly. If you hit the remote button, you can hear the reciever click like its getting the signal, but the door does not open. Sometimes my door will open perfectly for weeks, and then all of the sudden it won't work at all. What's the problem?

Answer:

Check stop switches
try changing the batteries in the remote.
Is the radio receiver separate from the opener motor? Please show make and model of motor and receiver. If the receiver is separate(not built in under the cover) I think I know what is wrong. Plus does the opener do the same at the wall button?
well have the same thing going on with mine, but my remote is older and the transmiter i think is bad, i just have to get another one, but for you, all automatic door's have a deactivating lever, you should go into the grage, while the door is closed, and you know that little red string that uve always see but never pay attention to, if some one had pulled that down, it would have deactivated the door, so when u hit the remote it sounds like it gets the signal but the power chain had been releasedu have to push the lever back up into the rail, that shoud work
