Question:

Peugeot 206 ABS error light is on, can anyone tell me why?

I have a 1998, 1.4 petrol peugeot 206Over the past week we have serviced it and changed the suspension on the front, whilst the suspension was changed the driveshaft got pulled out so we also had to fill the gearbox oil too as it all went all over the floor! I‘m not sure what we‘ve done but the ABS light has now come on and we don‘t know why! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Answer:

Most likely you damaged one of the sensors on one of the wheels, or damaged the wiring for the sensor. ABS systems use a sensor in each wheel to tell the computer what the wheel is doing. It's pretty easy to damage the sensors or their associated wiring when working on the suspension system if you are not extremely careful. That's particularly true when tearing out a half shaft on a FWD vehicle or disassembling a hub to change bearings.
