Question about transmission flush?

Hey need some help with this. I have over 100,000 miles on my dodge RAM and debating on getting the transmission flushed. What exactley does the flush do and how does it work?

Answer:

DEALERSHIP ONLY!!!! All transmissiosn require fluid changes at 100,000 miles. Your CHRYSLER delaership will have the UPDATED filters and gaskets, and more importantly the CORRECT fluid for your truck. They often run SPECIALS on this service. Don't trust a flush and fill from other sources. Usually, their equipment is contaminated with other products and fluids. Your torque converter holds several quarts of old, trashy fluid. Some European trans missions and really old American transmissions have converter drain plugs. Other than that, you should have your system TOTALLY flushed and filled with CHRYSLER trans fluid. THere are NO universal trans fluids anymore! ALL have special additives for special purposes!
The flush runs 10 to 20 quarts of ATF through your transmission's oil filter and valve body, torque converter and clutch packs. The problem with this is it blows all the dirt caught in the filter backwards through the whole transmission. This is why so many people that get transmission flushes end up having to replace the transmission. You also get charged for all the flushing ATF. It's a lube joint scam and I highly recommend you don't have it done, especially at Jiffy Lube which has a 10 year reputation for charging for the work but not doing it! You should have the pan dropped and tjhe filter replaced, then fill the tranny with new ATF recommended by the manufacturer.
