Question:

Rechargable batteries, or the rechargable battery pack?

I have a Wii and xbox 360. I have 4 controllers for both consoles, although not always used at the same time. Should I get the rechargeable battery packs for each controller ( a little pricey) or just some AA Energizer rechargeable batteries with the charger.

Answer:

It is a tough call. You can buy the rechargeable AA cells and use them in the other devices, but have to keep track of them. The proprietary batteries will just be there
I've never been a fan of proprietary battery systems. NiMH AA (and a decent charger) for as many applications as possible, saves a lot of duplications, on the other hand, a play and charge system avoids the awkward situation where all your spares are flat. Pre-charged long storage NiMH (eg. Eneloop cells or similar) may help to ensure that you do have adequate power from cells that have been standing for a while - alternatively, you need a charger that is smart enough for topping up. Before choosing any other pack system (and preferably hunting down a cheaper clone pack), you need to ask what the advantage is - maybe it provides metering, maybe it has charge and run capability.
