removing rear axle on 1989 bronco?

Answer:

if it has floating axles like some fords has then it,s easy. just pull the drum, take out some bolts behind the brake shoes and pull the axles out. if it has an inspection plate then you need to remove it, take out 1 small bolt, drive the pin through part way, not all the way or you won,t be able to turn the tire, reach in and pull out the c-clip on the axle and pull the axle out. i saw several fords that did not have an inspection plate and by yours being a 89 it could be 1 of them.
AHH WHATS THE HANg up are you painting a picture of this ?? wazts the prob ??
Pulling the axle is not difficult. Jack the car to get the wheels up, making sure everything is mounted secure on jack stands. Pull the wheel that is on the axle that you wish to remove, then the brake drum. In the flange on the end of the axle you will see a hole in that flange, this gives you access to the four buts that hold the bearing retainer in place, after removing those four nuts you will need a tool that looks very much like a cross between a slide hammer and a steering wheel puller to pull the axle from the differential. Of course before you attempt this you will want to drain the differential.
