Question:

Should I Take A Ceramics Class?

I want to take a ceramics class as a filler class for creditsi have 2 other really hard classes (physics and chem) that i want to put my main focus on but ceramics would be the only class i have that day for about an hour and a half. I hear a lot of people saying the class is very easy but time consuming. So really my question is just how time consuming is the class and does this mean outside of class time also?

Answer:

Intro ceramics is easy, many people never get the hang of it, so teachers are not as strict as long as you try. Also ceramics is very therapeutic and can complement stressful course loads. You don't have to make a great work of art to pass, just learn and demonstrate your knowledge of the techniques and terminology, and show up to class.
all but the very easiest classes require time out of class. Given that how much is required of you depends on the specific class you have to ask people who have actually taken the same class with the same instructor. It will also depend what grade you want. If you have absolutely no interest in it, then chose something you have a basic interest in. If you are taking a class, then you should take it reasonably seriously. You don't have to be equally intense about all classes, that wouldn't be possible, but you are paying for it and you should see that you can get the maximum out of it for your own sake.
