Question:

How do I fix the windshield wipers on an 86 Ford Ranger?

Some time ago the passengers windshield wiper completely fell down and just stopped working. There‘s this sort of slab going across the hood right in front of the windshield where I can see that the windshield wipers were attached to each other by some hinge. What was happening is that one was moving and in turn pulling the passengers wiper at the same time. The bolt fell off and so they‘re not connected anymore.I don‘t know how to open that slab piece.I took my truck to advanced auto and he said that Fords are tricky and I might have to take it to a shop.Any clue how I‘m supposed to open this to fix the bolt? Or even what sort of bolt I might need to use? Thanks

Answer:

My Ranger wipers dont work at all !! In messing with mine i realized you have to remove your motor from the firewall and pull it out as far as you can. Once out you have to reach in and put the passenger arm back on. Mine has a clip on it that holds the arms on. I would say your clip is broken. Im sure you could get one at the ford dealership or a salvage yard. Hope this helps you out. You can do it however it will be somewhat a pain!
Easy fix the rail that holds the arm has a bad gromit you can replace the gromit or drill out with 1/8 drill bit put in cotterpin thur it would be best bet on repairs to wiperarm
