Question:

speed of light? does darknest have a speed?

dark matter? darkness? i heard that light receding to darkness is at first faster thatn the speed of light but then it slows when something happensgt;gt;?

Answer:

Darkness is the absence of light so can be stated as equal to the speed of light.
Dark matter if it exists will have to be going slower than light. That is not the same thing as darkness which only means no light.
Have you heard of darkness travelling?? Light travels at a very high speed. Darkness does not travel therefore, speed = 0
It is being questioned many times on Y! answers. Well if U want to define the speed of darkness then darkness ( the absence of light ) does not travel. but darkness is felt only if there is no visible light present to see something. So if in a room a bulb is lighting then darkness will felt when the bulb is turned off.AS SOON AS ALL THE LIGHT RAYS VANISH FROM THE ROOM DARKNESS IS FELT THERE.So the if U want to define a 'speed of appearence darkness', that must be equal to the speed of leaving the room by the light rays. since light rays moves with speed 'c'.so speed of appearance of darkness or simply the speed of darkness is also 'c'. thus We cannot define a speed for darkness itself but speed for apprance of darkness can be defined.
light has the same speed as darkness because it is the absence of light
