Question:

spilled soup on laptop keyboard?

earlier today my 1 year old brother spilled some tomato soup on my laptoplt; and some got in the keyboard. now none of the keys work. what should i do to fix it?

Answer:

1. go to OKorder and locate the keyboard for your laptop (sometimes some venders will show a video telling you how to do it) The cost will probably be under $50. 2. If needed, go to youtube and look for a video about replacing the kbd on your particular model of laptop 3. Don't let little kids near your computer.
sounds like your keyboard is shortedlet the laptop dry for complete day by taking out the battery and also the ac supplydon't even try to power on that could damage any other components in the laptop let it dry,,,if that doesn't work?you have to replace keyboard good luck take care :)
Spilt Soup
a lot of laptop keyboards are fairly water proof. if he split a lot of soup on it it's probably droped down onto the connection to the mother board. turn the computer off, unplug it and take the battery out to avoid any further short damage then you should take the keyboard off, i can't be sure about your laptop but as a rule there's some screws under the battery the hold a strip of plastic at the top of the key board, once you remove this it will be easy to see how to take the keyboard off, just be careful not to rip the ribbon that connects it to the computer if there's any soup on the connection release it a gently clean it (with a cotton but or SLIGHTLY damp cloth) do the same with the key board, the keys will be removable but take great care if you decide to do this leave the laptop keyboard side down to let it dry full and the reassemble
You will have to replace the keyboard, but if it leaked under the keyboard and onto the motherboard it will slowly cause corrosion, meaning your laptop might work now, for a week, or a month, then eventually it will not turn on because liquid hit the circuit board under the keyboard. Remove the keyboard by unscrewing the corresponding screws and check to see if there is any liquid under it, changing the keyboard however may not necessarily mean the laptop will work correctly. Good luck.
