Question:

throttle & transmission?

i have an auto transmission car. but for some reason when your at a stop and begin to go. the car seems to be very slugglish. it doesnt pick up at all until it switched to 2nd gear. is there something wrong with my transmission? or what might cause it to be so slow and slugglish when starting from a stop?

Answer:

Is hard to say, but could be that you need to do a tuneup or something, or the first gear is about gone on your tranny. Try the tune up first. Good luck.
Not a tune up problem, indications relate to the car running smoothly after 2nd gear is initialized. Sounds to me like the bands in transmission have worn out, there is a different band for 2nd gear.
Make sure that there is plenty of transmission fluid. You should also check the filter. Also, this might not be a transmission problem at all. Make sure that you change the oil regularly. Buildup can make your car run sluggishly. More details would be really helpful. Any odd noises or smells?
