Question:

transmission flush and now its loud?

Did a transmission flush because it was loud and wouldn‘t shift down. I was told to do a flush because the fluid was burnt. After the flush my transmission shifts now, but it seems to be around a particular gear (30-45 mph) it gets really loud. But it does appear to be shifting to me. So what is causing this really loud vibration noise. I drive a Neon 2003 120,000 miles. Thanks :)

Answer:

those rio/neon's have a kindoff weak tranny,to be specific they have a sender that goes bad in them affecting shifting.youve had good luck with yours, as i see 120,000.look burnt fluid is always a sign of things to come.start socking away your money for a new trans.dont try a used one, just get a new one. if your fluid is or has a burnt smell, it is because something has been damaged, wether its from high heat, or wear, something is amiss.i happen to agree with the no trans flush.forever it was fine to just clean and or replace the filter.i also agree that a flush will dislodge gunk, plugging lube holes, gumming up valve bodies etc.there is nothing wrong with flushing a trans!especially if youve done it from new, and have never mistreated it, it could actually be beneficial, but in a high mileage application, its only gonna cause problems. now back in the day, when your trans started acting up, fierst step was clean the pan and filter.that rarely worked as well. usually it was plugged with metal shavings, and black stuff.just because you now have clean oil in it,dont expect it to ever fix existing hardware damage because it wont.this is why im inclined to not change my trans fluid. now take for instance a very large piece of equipment, wich today they now have autoshift,or powershift.they have hydraulic clutches.the trans and rearend are lubed with trans oil/hydraulic fluid(face it,thats what hytran oil is).they are built heavy enough that they rarely get a burned smell to the oil, however if you do have a burnt smell to it, you dont flush the system, you take it apart and repair the damaged components, and install fresh hytran.do you notice you dont just refill with new oil?
Try any haynes manual through the index turn to breaks hope this helps
no car needs a transmission flush 90% of time it does more damage than just replacing fluid and filter sure its not a cv joint or a wheel bearing
I was always taught that if you buy a car, to make sure to do regular transmission fluid and filter changes; OR If you DON'T change the transmission fluid for a long time, that you should NOT change the fluid because there would be such a buildup of shavings, grime, etc, that a flush would knock that trash loose, and cause more damage to the transmission. In this case, you'd ultimately have to either replace, or have your transmission rebuilt.
