Question:

Transmission for my Ford van?

I am trying to find a rebuilt or used transmission for my work van. My question is, what specs do I need to know to find a tranny that will fit my vehicle. I can tell you it is a 2000 ford e-150, 4.6L, V8. I am trying to find numbers for my item. Thanks for any help.

Answer:

The transmission in your E-150 van is a 4R70W. If you are looking for a used transmission, any E (full size van) or F (full size pick-up) series vehicles with a 4R70W transmission for V8 2WD applications only, will work for your van. Do not get one from a V6 equipped truck. The bellhousing bolt pattern is different. Hope this helps. Note: Manual transmissions have NEVER been an option on any E-series vans since 1991. An E4OD/4R100 is for heavier applications on vehicles equipped with the 5.4L, 6.8L V10 7.3L Diesel engines.
E4OD. electonically controled 4 shift overdrive is the one You have right now. is in a metallic siver plate on one side of the tranny. and is aso in the body one side. what happen with the one You have.? P.S. the ,Michael ,said is standard I am saying automatic same vehicle.
That is about all you need. Year, Make, and Model of the vehicle, Engine displacement, and whether it is an Automatic or Standard shift transmission and on the door jamb (driver side I think) there should be a decal listing some warranty items, including several alpha-numeric codes, one of which should be the transmission code. That code will tell a professional which specific transmission was installed in your van.
