Question:

Transmission oil change?

how much would it cost to change my 2005 pontiac g6 transmission oil?

Answer:

What you want is a transmission filter change. What this does is the tech will remove the transmission pan so it will lose quite a bit of transmission fluid. They will then install a new transmission filter, a new transmission pan gasket, clean out any metal shavings caught in the transmission pan, reinstall the pan and add more transmission fluid. You do not want a flush. It pressures the lines and forces all the crap in the transmission loose which can clog not only the old filter in there but also the new one. This technique is becoming less popular as they can be very harmful to the transmission. Also you do not want just a drain and pur some new fluid in. It is the half ss way to do it. Get the tranmission filter replacement service. May run 100-150 depending on where you live and where you go.
pontiacG6 2005 I cant find transmission stick to measure fluid in transmission or a fill spot??
Never allow Quick Lube to flush your transmission! They don't drop the transmission pan, clean it or change the transmission filter! Please go to a Chevrolet dealer or trusted private mechanic and ask them to change, not flush the fluid. This job will cost very close to $125.00 *Flushing transmissions, forces the dirty fluid back through the delicate transmission valve body which has spring loaded check-balls and small passages. People wind-up having transmission problems when they choose flushing over changing the fluid.
