Answer:

It's nicely phrased and well put, but I got bored.I'm sorry.
This was very well writtenI enjoyed the premise.
I read it and I liked itI think the way your character perceives the surroundings you've created for her is well done and has some originality, some edginessI enjoyed her critique of the funeral process and the way you delve into the way she feels grief shows you've put some critical thought into the emotions that come with lossI'd say you're setting up an interesting character and this little bit is certainly well written, but I don't know how compelling it is without the presence of something to really catch the readers attentionPerhaps a few more hints about the nature of his death, or a more emotional description of the mothers reaction would draw people in a bit moreI think it's going to be good though, for whatever the opinion of a ninja is worth.
There is an xrdp server to do this but I would steer well clear of it - it is frankly of appalling quality with insurmountable performance and reliability issuesEssentially your Dad is correct - RDP is a Microsoft standard for use primarily with Windows systemsHowever, Unix and Linux use X11 for their graphical environments which is network aware to begin withYou need to start an X server on the local machine and direct graphical applications to use that display by setting the DISPLAY environment variableAlternatively configure XDMCP on the remote system and point your X server at it which will give you a full remote desktop as if you were logged in directly on the remote machine.
