Question:

What are the most common specs desired for industrial motors?

I'm a web developer, I have this project right now involving a search engine for motors I want to know parameters, so far these are what I have:ac/dcphase (redundant? eg. 3phase = ac ?) voltagerpmtorqueefficiency It's like this, a person designing a building might need motors for aspects such as ventilators, elevators, motors that open the elevator door, etc... So if you were looking for motors what are you interested in? I'm also not sure what the power output units are... for example one page for single phase said 0.08, is that... I don't know what is 1? A horse power? Ahh it is horse power, I found this line of specs here for an example motor .08HP,1725RPM,1PH,60HZ,42,3310L,TEFC,F1and the number 42, what is that for?

Answer:

PS Note that there are standard no-load RPM ratings, but the full-load ratings on the nameplate are anywhere from 1 to 5% less than the no-load speeds and rarely more than 5% less. For 60 Hz the no-load speeds are 3600, 1800, 1200 and 900 RPM and rarely some values less than that. There are standard horsepower values like 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1-1/2, 2, 3, 5, 7-1/2, 10 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200 and so on.
