Question:

What color is manual transmission fluid?

I have a 92 f250 with a 5 speed. I parked it in a garage to take the spare tire down and when I backed it out noticed an area or red liquid near where the front of the vehicle was. Now I know that auto transmission fluid is red, and I thought manual transmission fluid was suppose to be black and thick like motor oil. Is this tranny fluid or some other liquid my truck could be leaking?

Answer:

Your trucks transmission more and likely takes ATF, or Mercron 3. Is Automatic transmission fluid as you might have suspected. Best way to know for sure, is to ask the parts store where you'd be getting the fluid from. They should be able to help you best in that situation. Hope you can narrow down your leak.
use a steam iron with max steam at the lowest temperature point where steam will be produced. you could dab a bit of water on the creases prior to doing this
Yes, you can iron a tie. I used to work at a dry cleaners, technically it was called pressing, but it was basically ironing.
Transmission Fluid Colors
Believe it or not, there are some manual transmission cars out there that have automatic transmission fluid in them from the factory when they were new. Your best option is to look in the specifications page inside the handbook in your glove compartment for the manual transmission oil specification. Use these specification numbers when shopping or comparing manual transmission fluid. Bare in mind that different oil companies may color their fluid differently yet have the same specification numbers and letters.
