Question:

What's the best high chair?

I'm going to buy one next week for my son and I want something nice... preferably compact, but not necessarily. I also don't want one of those you sit in a chair and strap on to it. I want a completely seperate high chair for him! Thanks!

We have an evenflo expressions plus. It was around $60, maybe $70. Easily clean up vinyl, easy one handed tray removel, adjusts to different hieghts, has wheels to easily push around. Pretty basic, but works well. I've heard the Chico ones are nice too.
I have the Chicco Polly because it was highly recommended in the Baby Bargains book. I have not used it yet, but I can tell you that it looks very easy to clean (it even comes with two removable tray covers) and it folds up very compact. The Baby Bargains book also recommended the Fisher Price Rainforest chair -- actually, it got a higher rating than the Polly -- but the decoration is just too much for me.
We really like our Chicco Polly Double Phase high chair. It wipes clean very easily, both the seat cover and the trays. It has lots of adjustments. I use it up high at the table for dinners and lunch, but I like to use it on a low setting in the morning because I sit on the couch in the living room to feed our daughter breakfast. It has wheels on the bottom similar to office chairs so it wheels around easily (they also lock). It has a mesh pocket at the back where I store all the baby's bibs and the tray hangs on the back legs when not in use so it is nice and compact. It also folds easily and is very slim. Once your baby is ready to eat at the table it can be used as a toddler chair. It has two covers, one large more plush one on top for use when they are babies and a smaller pad underneath for use when they are a toddler.
I adore our Svan. It's not for everyone, and the price tag is a bit steep. ($250 plus about $40 for the pad set.) But here's why it works for us: * We have a small, open-floor plan main room. We didn't want a bright, plastic chair that screamed BABY! We wanted something subtle, modern and interesting. The Svan comes in several wood finishes - we went with cherry. * We wanted something that would go from his first feeding to the time he was ready to sit in a regular chair. The Svan adjusts nicely, and will actually become a desk chair eventually. (It can hold a 250 pound adult!) * We were looking for a chair that worked with a tray or without - this one is secure when we pull our son up to the table to sit with us, but the tray works very well, too. Lastly, we realized after we bought the chair that being able to adjust the footrest and the seat means that our son can actually climb into the chair himself!
