where buy (copper OR zinc) (plate OR sheet OR strip OR tube OR scrap)?

Answer:

Yes it is definatley worth your time. Although I dont think your taking it to the right place. I work at a recycling company and we pay $1.35 for #2 Insulated copper wire. Your wire however is Romex which pays almost $2 a pound. Alot of scrap yards can be rather shady so make sure you can see the scale weights when you take your wire in. Im not sure of your scrap yards policies but you should also ask for dealer prices. What that means is that you should get around $2.30 for the insulated or around $3.80 for the bare copper. My company will usually give dealer prices on weights over 100lbs or for a established company. Just make sure you take into account that almost half the weight will be in the insulation. 100 lbs. insulated wire for $105 or $175 for 50 lbs. of bare bright copper.
If you dont know how to downshift, then dont. You can really ruin the clutch fast if you dont know what youre doing. Its an art and someone who can do it needs to teach you.
brake first,,when slower go to nuetral or actually down shift if you need to.
Any alkaline or normal battery (not a rechargeable one) has, as it's outer metal layer, a 'cup' of pure zinc metal. Simply obtain a new D-cell alkaline (or normal) battery and carefully hack-saw off the top, then empty the contents (the black gooy electrolite substance) and the central carbon rod. You can throw that stuff away -- wrap it in newspaper and dispose of it in the trash. Then, wash out the zinc cup, take a hack-saw and cut it into strips. EDIT: Most batteries have an outer paper or steel can that is wrapped around the zinc can, so you need to get rid of that, too. .
