Question:

Why can't I get my floors clean?

I have ceramic tile floors throughout my entire house. I mop them every 2-3 days, but I feel like they never get clean! I just bought a brand new pack of white socks, and now I have to throw them all out.. the bottoms are discusting! They are black! I dont get it..even RIGHT after I mop, I will walk and my socks turn black. I have used many different floor cleaners and am out of options. I wonder if it makes a difference that my floors were not sealed when installed?

Answer:

It's possible that you have wax buildup, Sounds like you will have to strip the floors.and put a coat of new wax on the floors.
It may be that they are porous and have absorbed a lot of dirt. It could also be that you aren't using enough rinse water and are just spreading dirty water around. Listen, if you can afford it, do yourself a favor and get a Hoover Floormate for your floors. It puts down soapy water and sucks it back up while it scrubs. I have all tile floors and have used one for years, they work great and the floors are not only clean but dry right away too. If you can't swing buying one right now, get old towels and dry the floors right after you mop ( kind of skate along with your feet on them ) and this will also take up a lot of the dirt that is being left behind.
Mopping a floor is sometimes not enough. Give the floor a good old fashion scrub may help. Get a sponge and rag and a good floor cleaner that you can spray on the floor. As you spray use the rag and sponge to scrub and wipe the floor. You said it's black so keep a bucket of hot water in close range. Good luck.
