Question:

Would a bullet go through a metal door ?

Ofcourse it depends on the gun and proximity etc, but from a close range would a bullet for a 9mm go through a metal door (ex. apartment doors in buildings)?

Answer:

Ma'am, there is a very IMPORTANT rule of firearm safety...Please ALWAYS IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET ! OMG, firing through a door could be a real tragedy. On the other hand, if you know the boogieman is hiding behind the door, firing through the door would certainly make him very unhappy back there. Really any high powered rifle would pierce the door like a sheet of paper. A 9MM could be Hit or miss. This is why I am not a fan of the 9MM. Depends on the strength or the door, what brand and type of ammo is loaded. But please, above all remember safety, if a threat is behind a door, it may not be time to fire shots yet. ALWAYS POSITIVELY IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET. The results of the finality of using a firearm to defend yourself is horrendous to begin with, and tragic if you would EVER make a mistake. You must always in those situations, keep your cool and THINK. The better you can do that, the better you will shoot also, if needed.
Most steel apartment doors are 16 ga. or thinner, and MOST 9mm WILL penetrate at close ranges; especially if they are hollow core doors. HOWEVER, you should NEVER fire THROUGH a door except under certain specific circumstances; (like you are hiding from a burglar in a closet, etc.) IF someone is breaking in, then LEGALLY, you are better off to let them get the door OPEN BEFORE dropping them; as PROOF that they actually DID break in.
Depends on what kind of metal the door is really, and how thick it is.
You know those cars in the 40s were tough steel. If seen 9mm rounds go through them so it depends on what the dore is.
there are some rounds that will penetrate a steel door but many more rounds that won't. I'm not going to say what kind of guns I have but I have a rifle and a handgun that both can go through 1/2 of steel quite easily.
