04 quad cab v8 4.7 automatic transmission 545rfe. My trans temp light comes on sometimes I don‘t do heavy towing and I DO NOT ABUSE OR NEGLECT my truck. Took it to the dealer and they said it‘s the transmission solenoid pack. But how do I know if they are being honest about it? What if it just needs new filters and trans oil? I lack knowledge on transmission diagnosis but I can drop the pan and change the oil and both filters my self. By the way the oil level is fine it‘s dark red and doesn‘t smell burned. I don‘t know if the trans has been serviced on time or ever but it has 162,xxx miles on it now. If I change the fluid and stuff will the transmission be screwed after doing so.
