Question:

10 points for math help?

1: Which of the following is the number of grams in 5.8 kilograms?2: How do you find the volume and surface area of a triangular prism?3: The city of Rubberville plans to dig a rectangular landfill. The landfill will have a base with dimensions 700 ft by 200 ft and a depth of 85 ft. a. How many cubic feet of garbage will the landfill hold?b. What information would you need to determine how long the landfill can be used until it is full? (Don't really need to answer...this is easy.)c. An excavator was hired to dig the hole for the landfill. How many cubic yards of dirt will he have to haul away?

Answer:

1. 5800 2. v=bh, sa= area of all sides 3. a. 11,900,000 c. about 3,966,666
1) To convert Kilograms to Grams, simply multiply by 1000. Google the rest.
Don't listen to Kevin. While there are 3 feet in a yard, there are not three cubic feet in a cubic yard. A cubic yard is 3 feet long, 3 feet wide, and 3 feet high. So there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard. Consider: 3 feet = 1 yard Now cube both sides: 3^3 feet^3 = 1^3 yard^3 27 feet cubed = 1 yard cubed
Thats a few questions.... 1) kilo=1000, 5.8kg=5800g. 2) volume=1/2(LengthxWidthxHeight) s.a. = well... there are 3 rectangles... so find the area of those rectangles (LengthxWidth). There are also 2 triangles, so find the area of those (1/2xBasexHeight). Then add all those together! 3) a) Just multiply the three numbers together: 700ftx200ftx85ft=11,900,000ft^3. b)The average amount of garbage deposited in a period of time. c) (I'm in Canada and on the metric system so I can't be too sure about this one, but the internet says there are 9 cubic ft in 1 cubic yard...) (11,900,000ft^3)x(1yrd^3/9ft^3)=1,322,22... Hope that helps!
1. 5800 grams 2. Volume = bh or the product of its height and the area of its base Surface Area = ph + 2B or the sum of the lateral area and twice the area of a base. 3. a. 700x200x85 = 11900000 cubit feet of garbage will the landfill hold. c. 11900000x0.037 = 440300 cubic yards of dirt will he have to haul away. 1 cubic foot = 0.037 cubic yard
