Question:

1969 Pontiac Firebird Exhaust System?

I have a built 455 with hooker headers. I need to find a good exhasut system to put on. I am currently running open cherrybombs right off the headers. What is a good exhaust to put on it? Im looking for something loud but also has a great muscle sound.

Answer:

3 inch pipe and 40 series flow masters turn downs in front of the rear axle it will sound great
did you change the transmission filter too? it could be the torque converter too.
toque converter most like - fells like it sliping
Get Borla XR-1 Racing mufflers that dump right off at your header collectors. It will be Loud and it will sound VERY mean! I have the same headers you do and this same Borla set up on my Camaro and its sounds great.
Flow master systems Super Trap and many others Headers make a big motor harsh sounding you may want to wrap the header tubes to keep heat header pipe noise down. If you want a sound system other than that big throbing V-8 you will need much more quietness.
