Alright, so I have a 1988 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 v8 4x4. I was driving it the other day and noticed that it started to rev up more than usual when I was driving on the highway. The day after, the truck would go up to 30 m.p.h., and wouldn't go any faster but it would continue to rev up. I replaced the transmission fluid and it did nothing to help. What could the problem be!?
Transmission is most likely shot. 700r4 is notorious for doing that, it happened to me in '88 Chevy pickup
how many miles on tranny.even the best auto go bad between 100 and 150Kmy S 10 just got rebuilt at 125,000 .1300 dollars /with rebuilt torque converter
If trans. fluid isn't low, you're looking at a transmission overhaul or replacement.
