Question:

1996 camry transmission problems!?

Okay so 1st gear is okay but after that, the car still drives and moves but I can feel the transmission having a hard time shifting and even when its going up speeds, its like grinding I guess, the car feels a little shaky when driving, whats wrong with my trans ? Do I need to get a transmission oil change and filter ?

Answer:

I went through the same thng almost. Your trans is shot. If you hear grinding no trans fluid and filter change will do anything for you. I found a used cheap trans for $400 at a junkyard (big Gamble) and put it in myself. If You cant do it urself it will probably be no cheaper than $1000 to $1600 used
First things first. Check your transmission fluid level. The fluid should be warm and at operating temperature. And the car should be level If it's low, fill it slowly small amounts at a time and check the level. At the same time, using a white rag, check the color and take notice if you see any foaming. If the fluid level is ok, you might want to check with your mechanic for the next step. It could be a number of different problems and quite possible be something other than your transmission creating this problem. Good Luck to you
did u replace bearing? use proper wt fluid? you could take it appart look,,measure everything.or what id do is drive it easy and slow for a few days,,,see if it sets in in a few miles Parking brake ok?brake caliper bad?
