ABS dash board lights comes on. break pedal funny feeling. Took it to the garage and all the did is take out the fuse and told me not to worry about it. And everyone that I've talked to says the same thing. I drive around with my son in this truck. What is ABS and why don't people want to fix it the right way. I don't mind spending the money. I also mantian my truck to what the book says.

Answer:

i own a shop and what that is the anti lock brake system Waring light ,it tells you if there's a problem with the anti lock brakes, taking the fuse out doesn't fix it and these shops knows that ,what it is they don't know how to repair it,i been at this for 35 yrs,and you need the brakes working right on this one, take it to a good shop and have it fixed ,its hard to know why the light did come on,but it was warning you that there is a problem with the brakes, and they should not have pulled the fuse and told you to drive it,good luck with it hope this helps.
Take it to a Chevrolet Dealership for service. You have an issue with your anti-lock brakes. Since these other shops just pulled a fuse, mark them off your list of ever returning for future services, they are not to be trusted.
abs stands for anti-lock brake system. you have a falte code regerested in your abs control computer. it could be something as simple as a wheel speed sensor that broke a wire, you need to put the fuse back in and take it to a garage that is willing to pull the falt code, repair the problem, and reset the computer. your truck was born with abs, with the lite on and the fuse out ,you don't have it. this is a safety feature to keep the brakes from locking up and you loseing control of your truck i would have it fixed
Well abs is air brake system. When you brake with abs, your brakes grab and then slip off then grab.until you stop. When the abs light is on, that means thatyour abs is disengaged meaning that you only have normal brakes. I had a 94 grand prix that the abs light would come on and off like that. One day a car pulled out in front of me when i was about 7 feet away from it. I slammed on the brakes, and being that they were abs brakes, the brakes grabbed and locked and never let off in that sort distance of 7 feet. My brakes were effectively LOCKED in that few seconds and i had no control at all and plowed into the other car. My son is a mechanic, trust me your abs light being on just means that you are operating on regular brakes which are better than abs anyway. The reason your brake pedal feels weird when that light is on is telling you your abs is screwing up.
Pulling the fuse didn't solve anything but disabled the ABS (Anti-lock braking) system. So now your car is driving in the same manner as a car without and ABS system. Though technically the car is safe to drive, what was essentially done was they disabled the ABS system instead of fixing it, and if you paid for that safety feature, you should be using the safety feature. There are many electrical components to the ABS system, and a proper diagnostics is necessary to determine what triggered the original ABS light to come on. It could be as simple as a wheel sensor has gone out, wires became corroded to problems with the ABS component. Take it to another shop and get it fixed properly.
