Question:

2002 impala ls problems (MAF sensor, MAF connector)?

I decided to go to pep-boys and have a full diagnostic check (engine light was on). came to find out he told me that the MAF sensor needs to be replaced and the MAF connector was melted. ALSO! 3 step pro fuel pkg (needs to b cleaned through). instead of taking it to the dealer i was thinking about replacing the sensor and connector myself.is that possible? and if it isHow can i replace it? (details and steps if possible). recession lol

Answer:

not knowing your skill set can't say if you could do it or not
call your local GM dealer and buy a repair connector kit approx 20-40 dollarsbuy maf from anywhere for the cheapest price if dealer is to high for you. cut and splice the new connector into place
in all probability an air leak interior the intake equipment earlier than the MAF. examine the plastic and any rubber connectors/bellow type rubber between the air intake/air clear out and the throttle physique for cracks and leaks or any real way air is shifting into. Or an air leak previous the sensor close to the throttle physique. Use some electric touch cleanser on the two the female and male sides of the MAF connector and pull on and rancid a pair of instances to bathe and insure a physically powerful connection.
